Cette saison automne hiver 2013-14, MKHANH réalise non seulement vêtements et bijoux mais aussi deux paires de talons et un sac à main pour compléter notre silhouette.

For its autumn winter 2013-14 collection, MKHANH designed clothing and jewelry, as well as two pairs of heels and a hand bag to complete our silhouette.

Nous lançons aussi notre fabrique équitable cette année et avons décider d'utiliser ni peaux ni fourrure dans nos futures collections.

This year we are launching our fair trade workshop and have decided to use neither skins nor furs in our future collections.

The overall silhouette, echoing Bali's ceremonial garb, is streamlined and elegant. But the designer introduced modern shapes and details as seen on both Balinese and foreign women. "In the street you will find body hugging kebayas underlining the women's beautiful figure but on an everyday basis, the older women usually pair column sarongs with loose men's Tshirts. I was really attracted by this juxtaposition. Swimwear in Bali is impossible to ignore thus explaining the sporty cuts in the lingerie and dresses."

The fabrics introduce both a high end and a grunge quality to the clothes. "I love silk for its versatility and quality. The plumetti and organza are fabrics often used in high end clothes but here I chose to use them in a more relaxed but unusual fashion. The slashed denim in tailored pieces and worn with these silks, became more refined and gave the collection texture. Finally the nylon tulle conveys an athletic feel while remaining delicate and revealing."

Although the colors might seem unexpected to one unfamiliar with Bali, the designer actually drew them from everyday sights around the island.
"My palette started with Schiaparelli's Pink Shocking which is also native to Bali's nature. The bold color obsessed me. I saw it in the bougainvillea trees, in the flesh of the dragonfruit and in the sky at dusk. Looking up at the trees against the bright sky, the light blue and white came naturally. White also being a dominant color in daily hindu ceremonies. I really wanted another vibrant color that would unexpectedly compliment the Pink Shocking. I tried so many combinations but again it was nature that brought the answers. The fiery orange of the collection grew on the same branch as the pink, popped in the skin of passionfruits and shone in the sunset."

Finally, MKHANH's designer expressed her love of the island through fine sentimental jewelry. The gold vermeil was an evidence as majority of antique balinese jewelry is made of solid gold. The armbands are reminiscent of ivory or conchshell armbands once worn in Bali and throughout Indonesia. The circle earrings evoke the ear stretchers seen on both men and women during ceremonies. The rings were a more personal and romantic ode to the island and to the sea. 
"I found my first shell ring on the east coast of Bali, this broken piece of shell formed a perfect circle that happened to fit me. I kept it a long time, wearing it as is. I then found more and more everytime I went to that part of the island. On the west coast of the island I found the shattered pieces of shell scattered amongst volcanic black sand. Even these little chipped pieces are polished and are stunning in their detail, some have ridges, others specks of color. Mounted on a simple gold circle, they look like crystals or precious stones. I love the idea that these rings are all different, allowing people from across the world to carry a very unique and personal piece of this magical island with them."

		<description>MaiKhanh is a French Vietnamese designer and stylist. She was raised between Beijing, Los Angeles, Singapore and Hong Kong, trained in Marseilles and worked in Paris and New York. 
It’s this constant wanderlust that has shaped her life and inspired her designs.

In New York 2008, she co-founded REBELDNCE, an urban prêt-a-porter label. But after moving back to Paris and starting a family, desires and aesthetics changed, pushing her to launch MKHANH in 2011.
